My Quarantine Diary — Day 2

Yes I survived the whole weekend being alone in the hotel room! And surprisingly, it was very fulfilling and I am not getting bored at all.

Here are some “highlights of the day”!

On Sunday morning, I decided it was the right time to give it a try of the bathtub. It just looked so attempting, lying there watching the splendid marina bay awake, with a cup of coffee by my side.

And then I had some casual chats with families who are in two opposite geographical locations — US and China. I mention this because it somehow gives me an interesting metaphor, that I am in Singapore, and I am connecting them.

After lunch, I cleaned the room a bit and unlocked two things in my to-do list that I shared yesterday in Diary Day 1, which made me so proud of myself (well, I need a positive mind to keep myself happy during this quarantine, so pardon me :)

Firstly, I called the housekeeping to send me some papers and pencils. I was inspired by that awesome painter in the FB group, who paints that beautiful watercolor painting every other day in his hotel room. And I am like, watching this stunning marina bay view without doing anything?

Although I have not done any pencil sketching for more than a decade (last time was like in my high school), I decided to take the pencil this time. When I am drawing, I started to realize the thing I have been missing for all these years!

It’s been so long, that I focus entirely on something for 2+ hours, ponder upon the big picture with structuring mind, and take note on the small details of each building, window, tree, frame and logo. Indeed it gives me a very calm and serene mind.

Here is my sketch, might not be good to many people, but to me, I enjoyed it.

Interestingly, in the mid of drawing, the power in my room went off for like 10 minutes. Yet I did not feel much anxious, thanks to the focus and calm in this art work. Guess what I am missing, is that peaceful mind.

As I set a time everyday from 530–630pm as my work-out time, I decided to do something I always wanted but have not tried, which is to do a YouTube Zumba class. I picked a 30min session from the 1st search result I got.

Here is the link if you like to try (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QRZcZgSgSHI&ab_channel=POPSUGARFitness).

It is completely worth it, although some steps I am a bit slow to follow, yet it would definitely make you sweat and laugh. It is fun! And I do realize my left part of body is not so flexible and powerful especially when I am doing some combat positions like punches and kicks. Will do it again on Tuesday I think.

So at the end of the day, I realized this is indeed a good time for me to do somethings in my wish list that I haven’t got time to try in the past and get back to the missing piece of mind that I am searching for!

Got to think of something else that I wanted to do and did not get a chance!

See you all tomorrow!
